Milford, Michigan has a new shop, ladies and gentlemen!  I'm here to tell you - it's awesome!!

A few months ago, Milford, Michigan got a new shop on Houghton St. called Uka Market.  I read about it on Facebook and just had to check it out on opening day.  Boy am I'm glad I did!

I walked in and almost immediately scored a vintage Detroit Tigers pillow!  I was drawn to their vintage clothing, unique housewares, including a gorgeous vase that now sits in my foyer, pictures frames, journals, books, boots, jewlery, and furniture.

My super awesome vintage Detroit Tigers pillow in our guest room.  P.S. I also got that vase and book from Uka Market!

The shop is owned by Tina Swanson.  Tina opened Uka Market with her boyfriend, Jake, who runs Pinefield Farm in Highland.  When I met Tina, I liked her right away.  She’s just one of those sweet, easygoing, kind people.  She’s interesting and intelligent.  We hit it off and now, I’m so proud to call her a friend.

What's really important is, she’s invested in the community.  She even thought to ask if I wanted to sell my Cake Pops! at her shop (shameless plug here – Cake Pops! by Milford Kitchen now available at Uka Market!)

Uka Market is in a cute little area of Milford, behind the Township offices, on Houghton St. next to Milford Feed and above Home Sweet Tree (another awesome vintage shop).

To be honest, I never really knew this part of town existed.  I'm so glad I found it, though!  There are a few shops in the tall warehouse-like building back on Houghton St., all with their own little personalities.

I can't wait to explore even more of Milford to discover little gems like this one.  Though, it'll be pretty difficult to beat Uka Market.  I may even head there today, I saw a few cool items on their Instagram account!

I love supporting local shops.  What are you favorite shops in the area?
