Thanksgiving Turkey

Well, I roasted my first turkey a couple of days ago.  It was quite an experience.  First and foremost, it was super moist and delicious (recipe is up on the site now).  The flavors were perfect and Nick already ate most of it.

Though it was the first, this will most likely be the last turkey I make.  Here’s why:

I have a really hard time touching raw meat.  Nick did all the heavy lifting with this recipe.  He removed the giblets and washed the turkey before I seasoned, stuffed it, and put it in the oven.

I’m pretty sure I told him I was going to be vegan about 3 minutes into the whole process.  If you’re at all squeamish about stuff like this, you should just get a pre-made turkey for Thanksgiving and call it a day.

However, I did find it interesting.  Watching it roast in the oven for a few hours was pretty fascinating.

Bottom line is, I wouldn’t have been able to do it without my “Meat Hands,” which is what I call Nick when I need to work with raw meat.

I am seriously considering going meatless for a month just to see what it’s like.  I guess I never really thought about eating meat too much since I don’t really have to deal with the whole body, like I did with the turkey.

But, like I said, it turned out really great – Nick loved it!

Do you eat meat?  Are you a vegetarian or vegan?  What are your thoughts on the subject?  I’d love to hear from you!
