Is there anything better than pizza?  Well, yeah, there is: Homemade pizza with Milford Spice Company’s Johnny Pizza!  Whether you’re doing dinner a movie, having a party for the kids, or just want some yummy pizza in your PJs, Johnny Pizza takes it up two notches!

INGREDIENTS

1 pkg store-bought pizza dough (I use Tiseo’s, thawed)
1 1/2 Tbs Milford Spice Company’s Johnny Pizza
1-2 cloves garlic, minced
2 Tbsp olive oil
2 cups mozzarella, shredded
1/2 cup feta cheese
1/2 cup marinara sauce
1/4 red onion, sliced
1/2 cup tomatoes, diced
2 oz baby spinach
Banana peppers, optional

DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees for at least 30 minutes before baking.

  • Place the ball of pizza dough in a lightly greased 12 inch cast iron or oven-safe skillet. Drizzle olive oil on top of the dough. Use your fingertips to push the dough out to almost the edge of the skillet. Cover with plastic wrap and let rest for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours, if time allows.

  • Add a small drizzle of oil to a medium pan and when it shimmers hot, add spinach and stir constantly until the spinach is bright green and wilted.  Set aside.

  • To assemble. Drizzle the dough lightly with olive oil. Sprinkle 1 Tbsp Milford Spice Company’s Johnny Pizza evenly over the dough, leaving about an inch for the crust. Add a handful of mozzarella, then spoon over the marinara sauce, don't spread the sauce, just plop it down where you’d like it in little spoonfuls. Add the  spinach, tomato, and onion.

  • Top that with the remaining mozzarella, then feta cheese and banana peppers, if you choose.

  • Sprinkle the rest of the Milford Spice Company’s Johnny Pizza evenly on top, including crust if you want an herby crust.

  • Bake on the upper rack for 12 minutes. Then rotate the pizza and bake another 10 minutes or until the crust is crispy on the edges.
