Festival Weekend

This weekend was awesome!  Our good friends Dave & Katie Kiss came to visit us from Ohio.  They've been traveling for the past year and it's too cool - check out her blog HERE.  We played with Sky Rippers and Nick’s new Spark Drone in our backyard, and went to Nick’s parent’s house in Waterford, MI, for the Williams Lake Festival.

Festival weekend is so much fun; great food, boating, bbq, bonfires, and even greater friends and family.  What set it over the top was having Dave and Katie join us.

I made some potato salad, pasta salad, and chocolate covered pretzels, but my in-laws, Mary Margaret and Tim made sloppy joes and meatballs that were to die for!  I’m going to have to get those recipes.  Soon.

Seeing my nephews Drew and Donnie having so much fun just fills my heart with so much love and happiness.  I know that sounds cheesy, but it’s true.

Dave on the left; Nick on the right.  Both goofy and I couldn't be happier about that.

Katie and I got to see Nick and Dave act like they were Drew and Donnie’s age, jumping off the dock and doing flips and having us rate them.  I swear, whenever we’re all around a body of water, we turn into little kids.  It’s so great.

Their neighbors and family are the kindest people and so welcoming.  You really feel relaxed and at home when you’re around them.  Especially at the end of the night, sitting around the bonfire, laughing hysterically when hearing old stories about previous Festivals and old family tales.  It’s the best.

Dave and Katie are on their way up north to hang out with Katie’s family to camp and have their own fun, but I’m sure glad that we got to have them for a few days before they headed up north.

Nick and I are headed to Lake Mary in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to camp with his family.  From what I hear, it’s been a tradition to go there for over 40 years!  This will be my first year, so I’m super excited to join in all the fun.  At the risk of sounding cheesy yet again, I truly feel blessed to be a part of his family.
