Country Squire Bread

River’s Edge Brewing Co. has a new beer on tap today and it’s so good I just had to make bread with it. Turns out, just a few ingredients, a few minutes of stirring, and a delicious beer make for a damn good loaf of bread! I’m totally plugging them now: This Sunday, they’re having a Memorial Day Special on all beer to-go, so grab some fresh Country Squire or any of their tasty brews this weekend - cans, howlers, or growlers!

INGREDIENTS

Butter to grease a 9x5 pan
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/3 cup honey
1 1/2 cups Country Squire Farmhouse IPA (or any beer of your choosing)
1 stick butter cut into 1/2 Tbsp slices

optional: 1 cup cheddar or any herbs you want - mix it up, baby!

DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 9x5” loaf pan with butter.

  • In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and honey. Pour in the Country Squire (or beer of your choosing) and stir until just combined. You can mix in your cheese or herbs now if you’re using them. It may be lumpy, but that’s ok. Spoon the dough into the pan and smooth the top. Place the butter on top evenly.

  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the bread is lightly golden on top. Let cook for 15 minutes in the pan before serving.
