Habanero Garlic Pepper Smash Burgers

These are some tasty, spicy, burgers thanks to Milford Spice Company’s Habanero Garlic Pepper!  The key is to smash those bad boys so the juices go up instead of out of the burger.  SO GOOD!  If you don’t want it too spicy, you can substitute the pepper jack cheese for whichever cheese you prefer, or omit it altogether.  Any way you smash it, it’s perfection!

INGREDIENTS

Habanero Garlic Pepper Smash Burger.jpg

2 Tbsp butter
1 lb. ground beef
2 Tbsp Milford Spice Company’s Habanero Garlic Pepper
Salt
4 slices pepper jack cheese
4 hamburger buns, buttered and toasted on a skillet
Ketchup, mayonnaise, shredded iceberg lettuce, and dill pickle slices (for serving)

DIRECTIONS

  • In a bowl, mix your ground beef with Milford Spice Company’s Habanero Garlic Pepper thoroughly.

  • Heat a cast-iron griddle or large heavy skillet over medium-high until very hot, about 2 minutes, add your butter. Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions  into balls (do not form patties).

  • Working in batches if needed, place portions on griddle and smash flat with a spatula to form 4"-diameter patties (craggy edges are your friend). Season liberally with salt and cook, undisturbed, until outer edges are brown, about 2 minutes.

  • Flip patties, season with salt, and place a slice of pepper jack cheese on top of each patty. Cook until cheese droops and burgers are medium-rare, about 1 minute.

  • Serve patties on rolls with ketchup, mayonnaise, lettuce, and pickles.
