Metal Veggie Burgers

Our friends Dave and Allison Graw turned us on to the best veggie burger that we’ve ever had.  It’s made by Beyond Meat and it’s in the meat section at your grocery store.  Never have I ever had a meatless burger taste like meat.  It’s incredible.

This is my version of one of my favorite burgers out of Chicago.

INGREDIENTS

2 Pretzel Buns
1 pkg Beyond Meat Veggie Burger Patties
2 slices brie cheese
4 slices vegetarian/vegan bacon (I use LightLife)
2 Tbsp French’s fried onions
1 pear cored and sliced thinly
1 Tbsp butter
3 Tbsp brown sugar

DIRECTIONS

  • Heat a large sauté pan over medium heat. Melt the butter, and then add the pears, cut-side down, cooking until they are slightly golden brown, about 5 minutes. Add the brown sugar and continue cooking until caramelized, another 5 minutes. Add the bourbon, if using, and continue cooking for 5 more minutes.
  • Meanwhile, cook the veggie burgers and bacon according to packages.
  • Toast the pretzel buns and lay burger on each bottom slice of the bun.
  • Top each burger with 2 strips of veggie bacon, 1 Tbsp fried onions, brie cheese, and pear.
