Asparagus, Prosciutto, & Brie Galette
Yes, this baby was inspired by Lessons In Chemistry on Apple TV, which. my sister and I are watching on Christmas vacation. There was one episode where the main character made the most gorgeous galette that my sister and I both audibly gasped. For this particular dish, I just threw together what I thought would go well. Guess what? It did. Yum!
INGREDIENTS
Frozen pie dough, thawed
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 8 oz round of brie cheese
1 bunch of asparagus
About 5 sliced of Virginia ham or prosciutto
olive oil + Salt & Pepper to taste
1 egg, beaten
DIRECTIONS
In a pan, add a tablespoon of olive oil and once shimmering, add your asparagus. cook, flipping every once in a while, for about 5-7 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Roll out the pie dough; sprinkle the garlic on top.
Slice the top and bottom off the brie; you can peel it with a vegetable peeler, too. Be sure to keep the circumference outer ring in tact, you do not want it to just spill everywhere, so having that skin is key. Place the brie on top of the garlic on 1/3 of the inside of the pie dough, leave at least 1” of dough around the edge of the circle (you’ll use this to fold in to hold all the ingredients together.
Pile on the ham (or prosciutto) on the 2nd third of the inside, then the asparagus to complete the inner circle & fold galette edges over the ingredients -brush with egg wash.
Bake at 400°F for 30 - 35 mins until the edges are golden brown
