Pigs in a Pretzel Blanket

Making pretzels, to me, is like magic. These take your basic appetizer to the next level for sure!

INGREDIENTS

Pizza dough
5 cups water
¼ cup baking soda
1 egg
1 Tbsp water
Salt
1 pkg. Lil’ Smokies

DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.

  • Divide pizza dough into small strips and wrap around each Smokie. Set aside.

  • In a medium pot, bring water to a boil and add the baking soda.  Boil each dough-wrapped Smokies for 20-30 seconds and set back aside. BE CAREFUL and have a spoon in the water when you add the baking soda, it boils up pretty quickly!

  • On a foil-lined baking sheet, place the boiled dough-wrapped Smokies evenly apart. 

  • Whisk together the egg and water.  Brush each wrapped Smokie with the egg wash and top with salt.

  • Bake for 15 minutes.
